Tips to Skip Heavy Traffic on the Dubai Roads

Dubai has a dynamic city growing in various sectors such as infrastructure, technology, business, and the popular tourism industry. As one of the world's progressive cities, Dubai attracts tourists, job seekers, and investors every year, and this number continues to rise. This advanced city is no different when it comes to road traffic. The well-built road networks make it an easy and convenient way to commute. However, setting off on the roadways without a proper plan may only get you stuck in tiring traffic jams. Here are a few simple and tactful tips to avoid traffic on the Dubai roads.

Avoid Peak Hours

Office and school timings are the primary determiners of road traffic. Mostly, cities tend to have specific times when the crowd flows in a particular direction. The southern part of Dubai forms the central hub for offices that usually start between 8 and 9 AM. Avoid traveling towards south Dubai during these hours in the week. Likewise, commuting to north Dubai from 5 to 7 PM should be avoided, as it's the peak hours for the officegoers returning home. Apart from that, the roads also tend to get crowded with school buses during these hours.

Keep Track of Road Works

With the internet and google maps, planning your drive journey has become much more manageable. Check for road construction works over the internet and maps as this is a significant cause for congestion on the roads nearby. You can identify the primary traffic spots and find alternative routes to reach your destination faster and at ease. You can also check the official RTA website to get actual updates on traffic in any area.

Know the Congested Areas

There are specific areas in Dubai that face heavy traffic due to increased population, popular tourism attractions, narrow roads, dine-in restaurants, and other reasons. Jumeriah Lake Towers, Discovery Gardens, and Jumeriah Beach Residence are the major attraction in southern Dubai. They attract heavy traffic congestion during peak hours. Karama, Deira, and the International city also often face heavy traffic, forming the central residential locations in northern Dubai.

Use Weekend Mornings

Early morning hours are best to plan your drive on the Friday weekend, as most people tend to stay at home after joyful Thursday night parties. However, during the afternoon, you may often face little traffic on the roads. Roads close to major shopping malls and parks may be crowded over the weekends, as families tend to visit during this time. Hence, your mall and park plans can be scheduled for the weekdays and plan long morning drives on Friday mornings.
